    the first stig (the one that dresses in black) got sacked by top gear because the person who plays him wrote an autobiography and he confesede he was the stig, so they killed him of and now theres the new stig (the one in white).

    of course it isn't alonso, a F1 driver just doesn't have enough time to do something like this. When F1 drivers are not in the car, they have to do a massive amount of promoting and phisical training. search for the person who has the lap record on the top gear test track and you'll probably know who the stig is.

    They have used a cannon here. You're getting mixed up between a steam catapult and cannon. The steam catapult, although a British invention, is used on US carriers. The cannon has been used to propel cars- as in when the top gear team played darts with cars.
